She was instrumental in creating the region’s first 24/7 Psychiatric Emergency Services department, designed to deliver immediate psychiatric care and a path to recovery for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

“We are so pleased to have Dr. Gross step into the CMO role,” said Unity Center President, Melissa Eckstein. “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, and because she has been here since the beginning, Dr. Gross has already established close relationships with her colleagues and has a deep understanding of our region’s behavioral health needs.”

Unity Center has served more than 30,000 patients since its opening, providing innovative compassionate care to all in need. During her tenure, Dr. Gross helped lead Unity Center’s outstanding patient vaccine efforts.

She attended medical school at Emory School of Medicine and completed her residency at Massachusetts General Hospital-McLean Hospital. After her residency, Dr. Gross completed a consultation-liaison psychiatry fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2011, she joined the faculty at Oregon Health Sciences University, serving in clinical and educational roles demonstrating her dedication to patient care, teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. She also cares for patients in the psychiatric oncology field through the Knight Cancer Institute.

“I am constantly inspired by my colleagues every day. They are the reason I pursued this new role. My husband and two children have also been essential in my life, helping me to grow personally and professionally,” Gross said. “I look forward to this new opportunity, where we will continue to deliver on our mission of good health for all.”

Unity Center is a 24-hour behavioral and mental health services center that’s focused on providing immediate psychiatric care and a path to stabilization and recovery for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
