A “breaking down barriers” wall-breaking event today marked the official start of construction for The Unity Center for Behavioral Health. Portland Mayor Charlie Hales and Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury joined officials from all four sponsoring health systems, and major supporters to officially begin the remodeling work on the Holladay Park location.  Supporters also got the first look at design concepts and plans for the new site.

A workshop was conducted with architects to perfect the patient and family flow through Unity Psychiatric Emergency Service. Over 20 people, from staff, county directors, peers and advocates attended and gave their expert input on architectural models.

June 29-July 2, 2015

Staff from all participating organizations plus county officials, EMS, Fire Bureau, Medicaid payers, peers, family members of patients, and many others spent four days imagining the new psychiatric emergency service at Unity. 3D models were created to help the architects with the first design.
